Art Hum at the Movies

Advertised Event

The first ever Art Humanities Film Festival takes off this semester and is open to the university community. Art Humanities faculty have organized a schedule of films related to the Art Hum curriculum—most of the films shown will be biopics.

Many Core faculty like to include film viewings into their curriculums and in the past students have been treated to various versions of CC and Lit Hum "Film Festivals".  Films depicting diverse stagings and adaptations of plays read in Lit Hum have been very popular in the past, as have films addressing CC issues, broadly construed—ranging from comedies like Groundhog Day (a film about the meaning of the good life) to dramas like Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. As with all aspects of Core extra-curriculum programming, the new Art Humanities film festival will enhance the class experience but also reinforce the communal experience of students in the Core.
