The Humanitarian Affairs Program at the School of International and Public Affairs presents a panel discussion on religion as a driving force in humanitarian action.

If faith can be a strong motivation to provide humanitarian aid, will that affect the nature of the assistance given? How do religious values shape the governance and the programs of faith-based relief and development organizations? Does their work still evoke memories of the missionaries in the colonial era?

Panelists: Christina Tobias-Nahi, Director of Public Affairs, Islamic Relief USA;  Paul Mikov, Director and United Nations Representative, World Vision  International;  Paul Miller, Africa Team Leader and Policy Advisory, Catholic Relief Services;  Ruth Messinger, President, American Jewish World Service.

Refreshments will be provided to ground the discussion.
