This might not mean too much in the grand scheme of things, but in a race where a perfect storm seems to be brewing for Barack Obama, the support of three institutions of print journalism shows that the Illinois senator continues to gain momentum and support as the closing days of the election draw near. Check the link for further details from the three papers We'll keep an eye out for any other newspapers that endorse candidates in the days to come.

Exciting, but
It's exciting that Obama is getting more endorsements, particularly from L.A. Times and Chicago Tribune's since this is the first time they're supporting a Democrat for the White House. But the article says it's unclear how more newspaper endorsements translates into a White House win. It takes the Election 2004 as an example, when Kerry lost despite a lead in number of newspaper endorsements. In fact, we should turn our eyes to endorsements in key states like Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Colorado, which are likely to have greater influence than L.A. Times, Washington Post, and Chicago Tribune combined.

Good news for Obama. But,
Good news for Obama. But, like the article suggests, these endorsements are probably a "news cycle boost" for him by enlarge because, outside of LA and Chicago, I have a feeling that not many people read these newspapers. The Washington Post, of course, has a bit more stature.
