Yes, the Salahis infiltration into the White House’s recent state dinner in honor India’s prime minister poses serious questions about the security apparatus surrounding a president who is in more need of protection than any president before him. However, I don’t want to focus on that aspect of this story. The Salahi’s misconduct, as well as their behavior in the days following the dinner, is a sad indication of the state of American culture at the close of the decade.
It is now known that Mr. and Mrs. Salahi, two wannabe socialites from Virginia, were shadowed to the gates of the White House by a camera crew filming for a new reality show, “The Real Housewives of D.C.”, and that the entire affair could have been an attempt to impress a potential audience with their popularity. One can only ask, What were these people thinking? What was going on in their heads when they decided that it was fine to trespass on federal property for the sake of television?
Their idiocy is an example of what happens when a brain-dead culture obsessed with capturing a distorted “reality” collides with real life. It is a case of the quest for easy fame slamming up against a world in which people have very different concerns. The funny part is that the Salahi’s don’t seem to realize that they aren’t playing around in their fantasy world anymore. According to some sources, they are seeking to benefit financially from this episode – they canceled an appearance on Larry King Live after they were refused compensation for it. Mrs. Salahi has bragged on her Facebook that she is ready to co-host the Today Show. What’s worse, the news media has taken up this story with enthusiasm, giving the Salahi’s their fifteen minutes of fame and gratifying their inane aspirations.
The border between real life and the fame-crazed world of reality television has been blurred beyond recognition, as people go to increasingly outrageous lengths to craft an image for the media and sell it as actuality. The idea that this obsession with false reality has stretched all the way to top of America’s power structure indicates that Americans are lost in a fantasy world. Even worse, we seem content to consume this garbage without reflecting critically on what it says about our collective mindset.
One thing is for certain – when people like the Salahis begin to share the same space as the president of the United States, something is seriously wrong.

Getting ready for the holiday, house guests and a family wedding
In just 14 days my niece will be married. I’m sure she’ll be both happy and relieved once the big day comes as she’s only had a couple of months to plan this wedding. You see she was going to get married in June, but her fiance joined the Canadian Forces and well … that caused them flights to amsterdam to need to get married sooner – so that she can join him when he’s in training in another province. Along with preparing for the Christmas holidays, a dinner at my in-laws, house guests for Christmas and then house guests for the wedding … I still need to find flights to paris the perfect wedding gift for my niece. She’s registered at one of our large department stores, but I’m still trying to decide whether to get her something that she still needs from her wedding registry, try to find a unique gifts for her or just give her money so that she and her new husband can purchase whatever they really need or something that they wanted on their registry list that they didn’t receive. The other reason why I’m considering giving them money as a wedding gift is because they’ll be moving across the country to another province shortly after their wed .. perhaps the less things they have to move the better, flights to phoenix right? They they can use the money, as I said above, to get what they need when they settle into their new home. What would you do? Especially considering the holidays, house guests and a Christmas dinner with the in-laws out of town as well as getting ready for this wedding. LOL
I don't think it's a stretch
I don't think it's a stretch to say this is it for Will Ferrell, but Hollywood is always full of surprises.VCP-310 questions I knew something was wrong with this film when the studios plastered the airwaves with the totally unfunny Movie Trailer NON-FREAKING STOP!SY0-201 questions I think there are about 3 different trailers of Land of the Lost, and I gotta say they all suck.70-680 questions
Chevy Chase and Steve Martin I got, their type of humor was silly, but very very funny.70-642 questions Ferrell however, I just never got, and unfortunately it's going to cost some studio many millions to realize most folks aren't buying Ferrell's bad humor neither.
