  • In the 2000 election, Nader garnered 97,421 votes which brought up the Third Party Votes Controversy where it was under debate whether his running for election took away from Gore's votes and caused the Republican win.

 

  • Running as independent, though shows up as Independent-Ecology Party and the Peace and Freedom Party in some states.

 

  • Big on consumer advocacy and has worked with over 100 groups to help enacting OSHA, EPA, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the Safe Drinking Water Act.

 

  • Ran in all 3 campaigns in the past decade.

 

  • Family and upbringing sparked his interest in politics. His father used to say "If you do not use your rights, you will lose your rights.”

 

  • Graduated from Princeton and Harvard and subsequently served in the Army and then traveled throughout Latin America, Europe and Africa.

Btw, "claimed to have been living off $25k a year"? I guess it's kind of like Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America.
